High Plains Announces Next Wave of Comics

Twenty-Three National Acts Join Stacked Roster for 2015 High Plains Comedy Festival

High Plains Comedy Festival has announced its second wave of 2015 featured comedians and the list includes highly acclaimed national acts from a wide variety of backgrounds and styles. The newly announced comics join a dozen revealed last month, including Festival headliner Anthony Jeselnik.

The second wave of High Plains comedians:

  • Ian Abramson
  • Sammy Arechar
  • Rhea Butcher
  • Bryan Cook
  • Drennon Davis
  • Sonia Denis
  • Andrés du Bouchet
  • Noah Gardenswartz

  • Ben Kronberg
  • The Lucas Brothers
  • Ron Lynch
  • Rylee Newton
  • Power Violence
  • Dan St. Germain
  • Brody Stevens

Highlights among the announcement include Nikki Glaser—a perennial local favorite who has several large Hollywood projects in the works—and The Lucas Brothers, twins who’ve found commercial success with their unique, laid-back delivery. Glaser can be seen on the current season of Inside Amy Schumer, co-stars in Schumer’s new film Trainwreck, and is slated to star in her own Comedy Central show, Not Safe with Nikki Glaser, debuting in 2016. Kenny & Keith Lucas have had roles on Arrested Development and 22 Jump Street, and have two current television shows—Friends of the People, a sketch show on TruTV, and an animated show on FXX: Lucas Brothers Moving Company.

Also included in the lineup are Rhea Butcher and Noah Gardenswartz, both of whom are in the final 100 comedians competing in the upcoming season of Last Comic Standing (which Jeselnik will host).

“The lineup for this year’s Festival has been an embarrassment of riches,” says co-founder Adam Cayton-Holland. “High Plains is only in its third year, so to be getting this many über-talented comedians interested in being a part of it? We’re beyond thrilled. We know this year will be the best one yet and help to showcase Denver and its thriving comedy scene on a national level.”

The 3rd Annual High Plains Comedy Festival will take place August 20th through 22nd, at venues on South Broadway and Paramount Theatre in Denver. VIP Festival Passes and tickets to the headlining show are now on sale at highplainscomedyfestival.com. The final wave of comedians, full schedule, and individual ticket sales will be announced later in July.

High Plains Comedy Festival is held each August in Denver, Colorado with presenting sponsor Illegal Pete’s. Founded in 2013 by Denver comedian/writer Adam Cayton-Holland and comedian/producer Andy Juett, the Festival features a mix of local and national comics in venues throughout the city—with a special emphasis on the historic Baker neighborhood surrounding South Broadway. High Plains has quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talent-packed and fun-filled festivals in the country.
